We’ve Been Dealt a Finalist Spot!

We’re thrilled to share that Ace Places Playing Cards has been shortlisted in the Marketing, Advertising & PR StartUp of the Year category at the UK StartUp Awards (South East finals)!

While it might sound like a niche idea at first – using playing cards to showcase the best of a town – at its heart, Ace Places is a creative marketing tool. It helps people discover local legends, independent businesses, and hidden gems in a playful, tangible and beautifully designed way. Each card tells a story, and together, the deck becomes a celebration of place.

The first pack launched in Henley-on-Thames in March 2023, followed by Marlow in November. Since then, we’ve sold over 8,000 Henley packs and 6,000 Marlow packs, with more towns on the way. Every pack supports a local grassroots charity, and 25p from every sale goes straight back to the community it represents.

Being recognised in the Marketing category means a lot – because this business was built from a belief that marketing can do more than sell. It can connect people with where they live. It can champion independent businesses. And it can spark curiosity, pride and conversation in the places we visit.

As we grow, our aim is to find like-minded people who want to launch their own pack for where they live – with our help and support. If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, we’d love to hear from you.
