Farewell to a Local Legend: Win a Supersized River & Rowing Museum Card

Farewell to a Local Legend: Win a Supersized River & Rowing Museum Card

As the River & Rowing Museum prepares to close its doors for good this September, we wanted to mark the moment in true Ace Places style — by celebrating the stories, the memories, and the magic this beloved spot has brought to Henley.

So, we’ve created something a little special: a supersized, mounted version of the River & Rowing Museum’s card from our Henley Playing Cards deck — the Five of Clubs — and we’re giving it away in a community competition.

How to enter

If the museum holds a place in your heart, we’d love you to share your memory. Tell us what you’ll miss most, or your favourite moment from the museum — and be in with a chance to win this one-of-a-kind keepsake.

To enter:

1. Follow both @riverandrowingmuseum and @aceplacescards on Instagram (or Facebook)

2. Share your memory in the comments on our competition post or via the online form here.

3. That’s it! We’ll pick one winner at random

The supersized Five of Clubs will also be on display at the museum until its final day — Sunday 21st September 2025 — so you can see it in all its framed glory. Entries must be made by Sunday 14th September 2025.

Want your own framed card?

We’ve also made the Five of Clubs available to order for anyone wanting to keep a little piece of Henley history at home:

  • Mounted only – £45

  • Mounted and framed (ready to hang) – £85

£5 from every Five of Clubs sale will go to the queen of spades in the Henley pack, the  Kenton Theatre, helping to keep Henley’s creative spirit alive and thriving. Order yours here: www.aceplaces.co.uk/products/river-rowing-museum

Plus, if there’s another card from the Henley pack you’ve got your eye on — whether it’s your favourite café, charity or that beautiful signature Henley scene on the reverse — you can order a supersized version through the Ace Places website. Every print is made locally in Amersham, and framed with care by David Meadowcroft at The Picture Framer in Wargrave.

Grab a pack

You can still pick up a pack of Henley Playing Cards (featuring 54 brilliant local spots, including the River & Rowing Museum) from the museum shop before it closes on 21st September. It’s the perfect memento for Henley lovers — or a lovely gift for someone new to the town.

We know how much the museum has meant to Henley – to families, visitors, and generations of locals. This is our little way of saying thank you, and sending it off with love.

Let’s give this local legend the send-off it deserves.
